Balanced stance and smooth joinery defining the final form.
The project features a solid red oak island table and matching serving tray, both hand-fitted and finished to reveal the grain’s depth and clarity.
The entire assembly uses sliding tapered dovetail joinery, locked in place with wedges, allowing the table to be assembled or disassembled with a simple mallet—no fasteners required.
The table’s proportions balance sturdiness and lightness, while the tray echoes the same aesthetic in miniature. Every edge was chamfered by hand, and each surface planed smooth, sanded and finished with
Odie’s oil to preserve the tactile feel of real wood.
